Konami Gaming — Konetic Slot Dispatch

Modernizing slot-floor operations with mobile dispatch workflows

Project Details

Konami Gaming’s SYNKROS® is a leading enterprise casino management system powering slot machines, player tracking, analytics, gaming floor operations, and more for casinos worldwide. As part of extending SYNKROS into mobile workflows, Konami introduced the Konetic™ Employee App — a mobile platform empowering casino floor teams to respond to service needs, process jackpots, handle hand pays, and streamline dispatch tasks directly from a smartphone or tablet rather than relying on desktops or walkie-talkies.

A key component of this app is the Slot Dispatch module, which enables casino staff to manage incoming service calls — whether automatically generated from machine alerts or manually created — assign those tasks to employees, track status, and complete them efficiently on the casino floor.

This case study outlines the UX/UI design work performed to make Slot Dispatch intuitive, efficient, and reliable for high-stakes, real-time casino operations.

Role: UX / UI design, user flows, wire-framing, high-fidelity mock-ups, design system alignment.

The Challenge

Casino operations depend on fast, coordinated responses to on-floor events like slot machine errors, technical issues, or jackpot payouts. Legacy systems often forced floor personnel or technicians to:

  • Move back to a central desk to receive dispatch instructions

  • Track service calls on static desktop monitors

  • Use disjointed systems that caused delays in response

  • Manage overlapping alerts without clear priority or status updates

The goal was to design the Slot Dispatch workflow within the Konetic Employee App to:

  • Deliver real-time alerts and dispatch tasks directly to mobile devices

  • Provide clear, priority-based task lists with status updates

  • Support both automatic alert dispatching and manual assignments

  • Enable easy task acceptance, reassignment, and completion tracking

  • Integrate smoothly with SYNKROS backend systems that generate alerts from machine data

The UX challenge was to transform operational complexity into a mobile experience that helped casino staff work faster, with less training, and with fewer errors.

UX Strategy

The UX strategy centered on situational awareness, workflow efficiency, and minimal learning curve — crucial in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Key Design Principles

  1. Immediate Awareness
Floor personnel must instantly see new dispatch tasks — with context — so they can act without delay.

  2. Clear Task Prioritization
Use priority labeling (e.g., critical, routine) and status indicators to help staff manage workload efficiently.

  3. Simple Task Interaction Models
Allow acceptance, rejection, reassignment, and completion directly from consistent controls.

  4. Feedback & Confirmation Loops
Provide clear confirmation of state changes (accepted, in-progress, completed) so tasks aren’t misinterpreted.

  5. Role-aware Interfaces
Supervisors get analytics and overall dispatch views; technicians get an optimized task list and completion tools.

These principles guided the mobile UI flows and hierarchy of content.

Visual & Interaction Design

The Slot Dispatch UI was designed with clarity and urgency in mind:

  • Consistent Visual Language: Retained Konetic brand palette and typography to ensure familiarity across modules.

  • Visual Prioritization: Priority badges, color codes, and iconography help staff scan tasks quickly even under pressure.

  • Responsive Interactions: Tap targets sized for fast action, clear affordances for swipe/drag actions on task cards.

  • Feedback States: Visual feedback (success, error, confirmation) for task acceptance and completion reduces ambiguity.

The interface balances detail (task context) with action (accept/complete) in the tight mobile viewport.

Outcomes & Impact

Operational Efficiency

  • Faster response to service calls directly on the casino floor without returning to static dispatch stations.

  • Clear task status flows help reduce confusion and delays.

Improved Accountability

  • Role-aware views allow supervisors to track who is working on what and measure task completion times.

  • Employee performance data supports optimization of staffing and resource allocation.

Enhanced Staff Experience

  • Intuitive mobile interactions reduce training time and onboarding friction for new personnel.

Mobile-first Empowerment

  • Dispatching work moves out of static consoles into flexible, context-aware mobile workflows — aligning with modern enterprise mobility trends.

Summary

The Konetic Slot Dispatch UX/UI design improves casino operations by enabling mobile, real-time task management for slot floor technicians and supervisors. By focusing on speed, clarity, and mobile-optimized workflows, the dispatch module modernizes legacy processes and supports the fast-paced demands of casino floor teams. This project highlights the importance of thoughtful UX design in transforming complex enterprise operations into efficient mobile experiences.
